Chinese manufactured toys recalled most often

Of the 24 kinds of toys recalled this year in the US for safety reasons, all 24 were manufactured in China. The most recent recall involved the popular Thomas the Tank Engine toy line. Four percent of the toy trains that were sold in the US by RC2 Corporation of Oak Brook, Illinois, were recalled due to being coated with lead paint during the manufacturing process in China. China is now responsible for 60 percent of all product recalls, a number that is up 24 percent from the year 2000. These numbers mark a growing concern about the safety of outsourcing the manufacturing process to foreign countries.
