Retail numbers show its harder to live paycheck to paycheck

You know how the financial experts say you should have an emergency savings account worth three months of salary? Does anyone actually do that? Or, I should say, anyone in the lower or lower-middle classes? New retail numbers are showing that its harder for people who live paycheck to paycheck, with spending right before the typical paydays going way down as people have to make the same amount of money stretch for products with prices that keep going up. The average family of four is spending $40 a month more on groceries than they did last year. And that’s not even taking into account gas prices and heating prices that are expected to go up this winter.
