Supermarket chains to stop selling cough syrup to teens
Giant Foods, as well as three other east coast supermarket chains, has announced that they will no longer sell cough syrup or other products containing dextromethorphan to customers under the age of 18. Teenage abuse of the common ingredient is stated as the cause of the new restriction. Sales of other common cold ingredients are currently restricted in many areas of the country because they are commonly used in methamphetamine production.
