According to a survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Moscow is the world’s most expensive city. The survey ranked 143 cities around the world using factors such as food, housing, and transportation costs. It is 35 percent more expensive for an American to live in Moscow than in New York City, which was used as a baseline. London ranked second, Seoul, South Korea came in third, and Tokyo placed fourth.
